it’s very strange to me that so many people demonstrate either an unwillingness or inability to understand another persons plight. on a post of mine a woman mentioned she’d stayed in an unhappy relationship for four years and multiple people got on her case like “why would you do that?” and it’s just like. do you have any interpersonal experience at all. I can think of a million reasons why someone might stick around in a bad relationship. or get an abortion, or pick up a drug habit, or any other frowned-upon life choice that is more often than not the product of a complex intersection of fraught emotions and forces outside your control. we are all outwardly irrational actors to some degree and it benefits no one pretending otherwise
